Beluga is scientifically known as Delphinacterus Leucas; a name derived from the Russian word "Belukha", which means "white whale". The Beluga is a slow swimmer, but can dive nearly 700 meters. These whales hunt and explore using their hearing and echolocation abilities. Beluga has excellent eyesight both at home and abroad.

These arctic and subarctic beluga whales feed solely on salmon, eulachon, cod, sandworms, herring, smoked fish and flatfish, including krill; so Yang Yun is not in danger of becoming their "lunch". Beluga is a mammal. They need to constantly come to the surface to breathe and will drown if they can't come to the surface. Both dolphins and whales have brains as large as human brains, similarly complex in shape. That proves that they can be as intelligent as humans and have the ability to show empathy. White whales love to communicate with humans. Even when threatened, they do not want to attack humans.
